Merry Christmas 2011!

 No need to countdown anymore…

Of all the songs that people contributed to the countdown here are the top 4!

Coming in at number 4 is…Joy to the World!

Grace from Musings of Mama Grace said that she loves gospel choir music. This is probably the only song in the top 4 that lends itself to a funky gospel version, though if you can prove me wrong on that I’d be happy to hear anything you have to offer on the top 3 songs. Here is the very talented Howard Gospel Choir from Washington DC.

At number 3 is…The Little Drummer Boy.

This percussionist in me said that I just HAD to post this version. Love, love, love how it features a whole drumline! This one’s for you cup and saucer Karen!

Coming in at number 2 is…Silent Night.

I was SOOO excited when Neil Finn tweeted back. He said that this was his favourite Christmas song, then a whole bunch of others did too! How beautiful is this version by Sarah McLachlan?

Finally the favourite Christmas song on the countdown is O Holy Night! Here is the “Queen of Gospel” Mahalia Jackson singing her heart out. I love her voice.

Are you surprised which songs were the most popular? Which one is YOUR FAVOURITE? Did I miss it? Don’t worry, I’ll keep a record of them for next year.

Wishing you all a

JOYFUL, LOVING

 PEACEFUL

and

BLESSED CHRISTMAS!

  1. All I want for Christmas is the one song I heard constantly over the holidays.
While I can’t say it’s a favourite of mine (although I do prefer Michael Buble’s version), it is rather popular.
    Enjoyed your top 4.
Merry Christmas, hope it was filled with joy and laughter :o )
