“Hark! the Herald Angels Sing,” what a jubilant song! There’s a lot of joy to be found in these old hymns, and I particularly love the lyrics— when nowadays do we come across such phrases as “Veiled in flesh the Godhead see” and “Join the triumph of the skies?” I love it, and I hope you have fun singing and strumming along with me.
In this play-along video, I’m playing a very basic down-up strum to make the chord changes a bit easier, as this song has more chords than any other in my Christmas songbook. If you’re new to the uke, start by practicing each chord on its own, then practice strumming and making smooth chord changes, then play through the song at a slow tempo (either on your own or with the video after slowing down the speed of the video). Then, once you have it down, work on increasing your playing speed. Happy strumming!
