Oftentimes, we musicians can be quite hard on ourselves when we aren’t progressing as quickly as we think we should. But the problem isn’t our skill level, it’s our expectations. I know from personal experience that it can feel liberating to have someone grant me permission, like when The Nester granted me some home decor-related permission in an Instagram story and when comedian Tom Papa assured me in his book that it’s fine to buy the bigger size of pants. Ha!
